Well, hello dearies.
Thanks for visiting my page! I’m Lyn – reader, professional caffeinator (otherwise known as a barista), and lover of simple magics.
I’ve been a voracious reader since I was a kid. College put a pin in that love for a number of years, but coming back to that joy has been immensely comforting.
So…why Books Not Decaf?
Mostly, it’s a tribute to my love for books and coffee. One day, I’d love to open a book café, just to be surrounded by inked pages and the aroma of roasted bean water. On a smaller scale, it is a reference to the fact that caffeine does little to nothing for me anymore – hazards of being a three-year-old coffee drinker I suppose. Instead of drinking decaf, then, I read at night either to help me sleep or to keep me company when my insomnia kicks my ass.
As a reader, I’m nondiscriminatory about the platform of reading. I enjoy physical books, eBooks, and audiobooks. You can usually find me reading at least one book from each platform at any given time. Libby has become one of my best friends in feeding my audiobook needs.
I primarily read fiction, but will read just about anything. My favorite genres are fantasy, sci-fi, and dark romance. Vampires, folklore-based, genuine fey (Sidhe, the wee folk), and [scary] demons will nearly always pique my interest. YA/NA romance is my least favorite.
Let’s talk about spice levels.
- Intimacy happens behind closed doors / starts on page but fades to black
- Intimacy happens on page with vague detail
- Vanilla scenes happen on page in explicit detail
- Several scenes happen on page in explicit detail
- Shit gets kinky/rough/taboo
I consume about 20 books a month, give or take. What ends up on here as far as commentary/reviews/whatnot really depends on whether I feel about what I’m reading enough to write about it. The best way to know exactly what I’m reading is following me on GoodReads or the StoryGraph. Meanwhile, follow me on Instagram if you want to see Mothman and subscribe here if you want to keep up with my bookish rambles.
Quick Reminder: This blog is the production of one person’s (my) opinions. It is not meant to slander anyone or their interests. If you disagree with something in my posts/reviews – great, awesome, we are two people who got something completely different out of one mass of text. That’s the beauty of perspective. In saying that, I would greatly appreciate if any and all forms of hate kept to yourself. I’m a big fan of playful jabs, but if respect can’t be maintained to everyone involved, then this isn’t the space for you.
Have the day you deserve!
